While the festival does not officially begin until October 1, some of the scarecrows are anxious to be in place in time for Sunset Magazine’s Savor the Central Coast Event in September 27 & 28. Plus, this year there will be a few Adventure Tours in and around Cambria on September 26th. There is something for everyone during Cambria’s most fun month. Salute to Scarecrows: A Star-lit Celebration of CambriaOctober 1, 2015 from 5:30 – 7:30 Cambria Nursery & Florist, 2801 Eton Drive
An evening event featuring: Strolling in a scarecrow-decorated garden beneath autumn skies. Tasting seven mini-food courses from local restaurants, each paired with a local wine or beer. Musical entertainment. Silent auction featuring decorated wine barrels by local artists, each perfect as an art piece or working rain barrel. Additional silent auction/raffle of local meals, wine and gifts. And best of all—gala announcement of the 2015 prize-winning scarecrows! Tours are offered Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, excluding Federal holidays. Meet at the former Piedras Blancas located 1 1/1 miles north of light station at 9:45 a.m. Do not wait at the gate to the lighthouse. $10 for adults. $5 for ages 6 and up.
